The project was conceived as a collaborative piece with the gestures of Pontormo’s Deposition as the original site and center of the work. The painted gestures trace the configuration of bodies and/as fabric: lines radiating, taut. Close study of the original canvas were followed by process-drawings and the performance of the work: which brought fabric against bodies – my own, a collaborator’s – assuming new dimension, and force, between the white wall and the photographic lens.
